Every second Russian citizen surveyed considers translating the Russian language into Latin a good idea — these are the results of a opinion poll conducted by the Voice-Plus Center in Yekaterinburg.
According to the results of the study, a total of almost 52% of Russians support this idea. 23.5% of respondents are sure that the transition to the Latin alphabet should take place in the coming years and do not see any minuses in this decision. Another 28.3% believe that this would be a «good prospect for the next 15-20 years.»
Among the main advantages that the transition to the Latin alphabet will give, Russians call closer integration with the international community, a possible improvement in relations with the West, simplification of some aspects of working with electronics and a less complicated grammar.
