The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a law on the renaming of Odessa. The city was returned to the Turkish name Hadzhibey, which, according to deputies, was used before the accession of lands to the Russian Empire.
“Today we managed to break one of the main myths of the Kremlin propaganda — Odessa was not founded by Catherine II. There used to be a fortress port near the Black Sea, and it was called Hadzhibey. It was built by Italian merchants, then the city was developed by the Turks. Then the Moscow invaders came and destroyed the old city, and in its place created a new one, thinking that people would forget their history, ”said the author of the bill, Mustafa Nayem.
Following the renaming of Odessa, the renaming of the Odessa region to Hadzhibeyevskaya will follow. The ceremonial naming ceremony will take place on September 1. Among the invited guests is the name of the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan.inosminews.ru
