French media published a financial report on donations for the restoration of Notre Dame Cathedral after a fire in April of this year. For two months, by the efforts of those who were not indifferent, an amount of only 9% of the necessary funds was collected. It is noteworthy that the gypsy baron of Paris Michel Tuscany turned out to be the main patron of the arts, transferring EUR 250 million to the reconstruction of the relics.
Tuscany himself explained his generosity with his love for his country and cultural values, which «always meant a lot to Roma.»
“You know, Notre Dame for Roma has always been a favorite place in Paris. We have been there for centuries listening to the mass. In April, we experienced a real shock, we had to urgently. I did not anticipate that it would be my donation that would be the biggest, but I know that I am still ready to allocate funds for the speedy restoration of the cathedral, ”Tuscan told TF1 in an interview.
In May, the lower house of the French parliament approved a bill to restore the Notre Dame Cathedral, which had suffered from the fire. It provides for tax breaks for people who make donations for the repair of religious buildings. According to the authors, the law will also simplify the adoption of a number of decisions on restoration, including the exemption from certain standards of public procurement.
