The good news for residents of Sergiev Posad, Pereslavl-Zalessky, Rostov Veliky, Yaroslavl, Kostroma, Ivanovo, Suzdal and Vladimir was voiced at a meeting of the Ministry of Transport. All the cities traditionally included in the tourist route “Golden Ring of Russia”, as well as settlements located along the route, will be connected by the tram line “Golden Tram of Russia”.
The route, which is 566 km, will be gradually built up with tram lines. The first plots — Sergiev Posad — Yaroslavl and Vladimir — Suzdal promise to be completed by the end of 2020. The entire transport highway will be commissioned by 2030. According to the plan, the tram tracks will lie along the public roads with stops in settlements. In the future, the possibility of extending the route to Moscow, Kovrov, Murom and Nizhny Novgorod is being studied.
“The project, although expensive, is very profitable. This is the ecology, this is the support of small business, the development of a network of roadside infrastructure. In addition, the windows of the tram are more than the car and the bus, which means that all the beautiful views of our cities can be seen even better, ”said Deputy Minister Yevgeny Nokhryakov.
The total cost of the project is estimated at 800-900 billion rubles.
