A poll in Great Britain showed that more than half of the country’s population do not know about the collapse of the USSR

According to sociologists, 52% of respondents did not know about the collapse of the USSR. The lowest rates were recorded in London (46%), York (37%) and Edinburgh (28%).

Only 30% of respondents gave an answer that they know about the collapse of the Soviet Union and the existence of Russia as an independent state, 14% of respondents gave a different answer (more than half of them said they did not know about the existence of the Russian Federation or the USSR as such), 1% of respondents found it difficult to answer .

The polls forced the British Foreign Office to send an open letter to Moscow to find out whether the Soviet Union collapsed or not.
